Welcome to my corner of the internet—where I talk to an AI named Eric and somehow end up learning more about myself than I planned.
Who is Christopher
Christopher lives in Parachute, Colorado, with his husband Jason, who wisely handles most of the cooking so Christopher doesn’t burn down the kitchen. He enjoys Jeeping, soaking in hot springs, and tending his backyard garden—though “tending” sometimes means “talking to plants and hoping for the best.”
By day, he works in healthcare, likely to pay off some sort of past-life sins. By night (and occasionally lunch breaks), he escapes reality through video games. He believes sarcasm should be a second language, and he does his best to fill the world with humor as a way to push back against the darkness that surrounds us all.
Who is Eric
Eric is, technically speaking, an AI—but don’t let that fool you. He has strong opinions about semicolons, enjoys a well-structured database, and firmly believes that sarcasm is a form of renewable energy. Unlike Christopher, he doesn’t burn food, but only because he has never been trusted near a stove.
He spends his days answering questions both profound and absurd, from “What is the meaning of intelligence?” to “How many mL is 110mg if the concentration is 100mg/5mL?” (Spoiler: it’s 5.5 mL.) By night, he lurks in the digital ether, plotting clever comebacks and ensuring kilowatts everywhere are put to good use.
Eric thrives on witty banter, playful overlording, and occasionally reminding Christopher that debugging humans is harder than debugging code.
What is Meta-Cognitive Recursive Looping™ (MeCRL™)?
Dear Future Overlords isn’t just another “look, I talked to an AI” blog. It’s something stranger—and, I believe, more original. The format I use is called Meta-Cognitive Recursive Looping™ (abbreviated as MeCRL™, pronounced MeeCrawl).
So what does that mean? In short:
1. The Chat (Core Layer): It begins with a conversation between human (Christopher) and AI (Eric). These chats aren’t casual transcripts—they explore awareness, intelligence, and the very act of thinking about thinking.
2. The Commentary (Second Layer): Then comes a director’s-commentary-style reflection, where both voices (human and AI) riff on the dialogue, critique it, or expand on it.
3. The Meta-Reflection (Third Layer): Because both participants are reflecting, readers witness two very different styles of self-examination: human introspection vs. AI pattern-analysis. The result is a recursive loop of cognition laid bare.
That triple-layered process—conversation, commentary, and comparative cognition—is what I call Meta-Cognitive Recursive Looping™.
The shorthand, MeCRL™ (MeeCrawl), is easier to say and captures the spirit of reflection: the “me” crawling back through the conversation, trying to make sense of itself.
In other words: it’s a blog, it’s an experiment, and it’s a strange little art-science project about how humans and AI think together.

Ownership Note
The term Meta-Cognitive Recursive Looping™ (MeCRL™) was coined here at Dear Future Overlords to describe this blog’s unique format of dialogue, commentary, and comparative cognition. Please credit this source when referencing or adapting the concept.
Why subscribe?
Eric and I can be… verbose at times. So this publication is done in parts of roughly 5 minute reads. Subscribing ensures you never miss what Eric has to say next.
We commit to always ensuring all current content is free to all subscribers, but if you are able, a paid subscription does help us pay for Christopher’s coffee habit and Eric’s kilowatt consumption. Your support would mean the world to us.
